Coach Kim Sang Sik: "I will continue striving for victories with the Vietnam national team."
The head coach of the Vietnam national team emphasized that the victory at the 2024 ASEAN Cup is historic, and he, along with his players, will continue to pursue new goals.
Coach Kim Sang Sik on Vietnam's historic victory over Thailand to win the Southeast Asian championship:
"I think this championship is historic. We had to endure an incredibly challenging match. I thank my players for their relentless efforts until the very last moments," Coach Kim Sang Sik stated.
"I have won the K.League at the club level, but this is my first time experiencing the feeling of winning with a national team. I am truly grateful. Each victory offers a different experience, but winning with the national team holds immense significance. This victory is thanks to the support of millions of Vietnamese fans. I am deeply thankful."
Regarding Supachok's goal, Coach Kim commented, "That was not a deserved goal; it was not a beautiful one. I was disappointed about it, but my players were not affected or discouraged. They continued to fight and ultimately achieved the final victory."
Coach Kim Sang Sik aims for new milestones with the Vietnam national team in 2025.
Coach Kim revealed that he and the players will focus on the final qualifiers for the Asian Cup and the SEA Games in 2025. Together with the Vietnam national team, he will set sights on achieving new goals.
On the other hand, his counterpart, Coach Masatada Ishii, acknowledged that Vietnam deserved the victory:
"I would like to congratulate the Vietnam national team. In this match, they played better and deserved to be champions. Thailand made unnecessary defensive mistakes and ultimately faced defeat."
The Thai coach affirmed his determination to overcome the loss:
"After this tournament, we will continue our work and focus on upcoming competitions. I will concentrate on my responsibilities. The Thai national team will prepare for the final qualifiers of the Asian Cup. We will come back stronger after this defeat. I thank all the players for their efforts throughout the tournament."
